Type of Personal Information Collected

Restart Tuition collects and processes the following information:

  • Name of parent and student, phone numbers, address, and email addresses.

  • Name of school, exam boards, predicted grades, and assessment data from learners.

  • SEND information, including specific learning needs, EHCP details, and any barriers to learning.

  • Mock exam results, as well as test data from school-based tests.

 

How Personal Information Is Obtained and Why It Is Collected

Most personal information is provided directly for the following reasons:

  • To contact you to inform you of our services and provide online links.

  • To provide the student with the correct grade and level of tuition according to their needs.

  • To support the student as effectively as possible while receiving tutoring services.

The information provided is used to tailor tuition to the student’s needs. Information may be shared with tutors subcontracted to Restart Tuition, but only if that tutor is working directly with the student.

 

Lawful Basis for Processing Personal Data

Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the lawful bases for processing information are:

  • Consent – Clear consent has been given for personal data to be processed for the purposes outlined above.

  • Contractual Necessity – Processing is necessary to provide tutoring services under the contract agreed with you.

  • Legitimate Interest – Processing is necessary to fulfil the legitimate interests of Restart Tuition in providing tuition services effectively, as long as these interests do not override privacy rights.

How Personal Information Is Stored

All information is securely stored within TutorCruncher.

Names, addresses, email addresses, and all other relevant information are retained for the duration of tuition. Once tuition ends, information will be deleted from TutorCruncher within 6 months of the last date of tuition.

 

Data Protection Rights

Under data protection law, individuals have the following rights:

  • Right of access – The right to request copies of personal information.

  • Right to rectification – The right to request the correction of inaccurate personal information or completion of incomplete data.

  • Right to erasure – The right to request the deletion of personal information in certain circumstances.

  • Right to restrict processing – The right to request the restriction of processing in certain circumstances.

  • Right to object to processing – The right to object to the processing of personal information in certain circumstances.

  • Right to data portability – The right to request the transfer of personal information to another organisation or to you in certain circumstances.

No charges apply for exercising these rights. Requests will be responded to within one month.
